TOPIC: The Trinity Danny Barnett I too once had a problem understanding the enigmatic concept of the Trinity. The problem is, in my opinion, that most people just aren't able to explain it very well. I hope the following model will help you understand it better. ______ Consider the triangle presented here. For purposes of demonstration \ / I will use it as a representation of God. Now, visualize each of \ / edges or sides as being a separate person of the Trinity. This, \/ therefore, paints a picture of a Holy Trinity, which is God, that is incomplete without all three of its members: Yahweh (or Jehovah) the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three Persons of the Trinity, in my opinion, work in perpetual harmony with each other, since each is really God. No one Person is superior in any way to the other two, and all three are all-seeing, all-knowing, and all- powerful. Note that this isn't three different gods, but instead one God splitting itself into three different agents. The traditional representation of "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit," admittedly, can be a bit confusing since it assigns the term "Father" to one of the three persons of the Trinity, but you could visualize it like this: God the Father (Father of all creation), Jesus the Son (Son of Man, born of a virgin), and the Holy Spirit. Or, as the Christian Scientist label them, Life, Truth, and Love. I have also devised special descriptive names for them: Creator, Redeemer, and Conscience. Notice, however, that God said, "Let US create humanity in OUR own image and likeness." (Genesis 1:26) Jesus also said in the New Testament, "He who has the Son also has the Father." These passages definitely assign a plural nature to God. These aren't from faulty translations. An interesting idea that ties in with my theory is that Yahweh (The Father) was the principle character of the Old Testament. Jesus (The Son) was the principle character of the New Testament. As for the Holy Spirit, He is the principle character of today. God the Father created the universe and man, gave us our original set of laws, and made Israel a mighty nation until it betrayed Him. Jesus the Son redeemed mankind by fulfilling the original law and dying as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. And the Holy Spirit acts as our conscience and guide in everyday life. This also demonstrates the threefold nature and purpose of the Holy Trinity. Any comments from other users will be appreciated. If you see any errors in what I've presented, PLEASE let me (and everyone else) know.
